NPR's Science Friday has a very interesting interview with inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil, where he discusses how technology is a necessary step in continuing evolution's exponential growth.
The interview can be downloaded in MP3 format here.
From the Science Friday website:
"Technology is ever-changing. But are new technologies on the verge of fundamentally changing what it means to be human? In this hour of Science Friday, Ira talks with inventor and author Ray Kurzweil about technological change and its effects on everything from your health to artificial intelligence. If you manage to live for another 50 years, might it be possible to live forever? Would people today even be able to comprehend the technologies of the future?"
Last month I finished reading Kurzweil's book The Age of Spiritual Machines, which states the idea mentioned above and has predictions for our technology-driven life up to the year 2099. It's a very interesting book and I highly recommended.
